What our clients say about No Place Like Home

"NPLH enabled Mum to stay in her home feeling safe and cared for whilst remaining as independent as possible Nothing was too much trouble and the PAs really cared forming friendship as well as carrying out their roles as carer/companions. This in turn led to a great sense of peace of mind for me as I live 50 miles away from us home . It was mum’s greatest wish to stay at home for as long as possible and this was only achieved with the help of NPLH. Well done team and thank you."

“We began the journey with NPLH with weekly visits alongside other visitors, mainly for companionship. Our father initially thought they would not have much to do but as the PAs became his friends and he realised how helpful they were and what they were prepared to do, which was anything from taking him to hospital appointments, undertaking domestic duties to reading meters, he became very comfortable and reliant on their support. When he needed increasing help and care NPLH worked hard to quickly identify the PAs that would complement Dad and stepped up the visits. We are very grateful for their responsiveness, the caring culture and the quality of the PAs.”

“We were not quite sure what to expect with a personal assistant and the idea of such a service was not something we expected that we would need but what a revelation it has been. From the very outset the care and attention and respect and above all, the key point of listening without rushing in with “solutions” or assumptions is a joyful hallmark of simply outstanding service. Thank you.”

“Can’t praise NPLH enough . The whole team are stars and give prompt attentive care allowing my Mum to be as independent as she can and stay in her own home which helps give her a safe space. They keep me updated on any cause for concern and as I live 50 miles away this also gives me peace of mind that Mum is receiving the care and attention she would get if I was able to be round the corner. Together we are able to implement the best way to deal with issues as they arise. Well done Team NPLH. 5 stars.”

"At a time when we needed help and support most, No Place Like Home were there. Their level of understanding and sensitivity is exceptional and they have consistently provided intelligent, caring, compassionate and generous personal assistants to be with my Mum. The range of expertise and service is superb, from ‘simple’ companionship through to complex medical care. The assistants establish a positive, individualised and entirely appropriate relationship my Mum and she regards them as caring friends. I cannot speak to highly of them nor recommend them more thoroughly. A first class service in a world where care is diminishing fast."

“We are in the early stages of Alzheimer's Dementia but needed some support, understanding and expertise which will develop as needed. No Place Like Home provided an ideal Personal Assistant to provide some respite for myself and with whom my wife has bonded. She has proved to be a very professional, caring and understanding person that gives confidence in her abilities. Office based staff always stay in contact and provide suggestions of developments and support. I have complete confidence of their abilities as we progress through this period.”

“My father looks forward with much anticipation to his outings with his personal assistant, who he looks on as a trusted friend and social companion. Dad is mentally very independent and active so one of his biggest frustrations is boredom, but he didn’t get on with various volunteer / social groups with whom he felt he had little in common. As a family, we are so delighted to have discovered No Place Like Home. Alison took great care to identify what we wanted from the service. Dad enjoys having someone to share his interest in music, theatre, gardens and coffee shops! His balance is poor, and he gets confused about dates and times, so he appreciates very much having someone quietly take care of him without patronising him. He loves the fact that if he suggests doing something, his PA will try to find a way to make it possible (e.g. indoor bowling with a walking stick!).”

“All the PAs who help T are kind, competent and able to develop good relationships with T. We really appreciate the consistency in scheduling provided by No Place Like Home, which means T, and the family, get to know a small number of PAs really well. The PA who attends most frequently has built a very strong bond with T and is very generous in taking T out to pubs, cafes and the cinema. This hugely improves T’s quality of life and keeps him engaged with the world.”

"My wife has dementia. As a comparative newcomer to the world of caring I need support. No Place Like Home provides me with practical help, sound advice and the opportunity to hold a meaningful conversation. A very strong team with a wealth of professional experience, they are totally dedicated to the task and nothing is too much trouble."

"My family wanted me to stay in residential care for another week after an operation. I was determined that it was time to come home. My niece found you and it was the best thing she could have done."

"Rhona and Alison together with the Personal Assistants have continued to provide a wonderful caring service to X throughout this last year, always mindful of her needs and wishes. I have no hesitation in recommending their services. Alison and Rhona are always available for help and advice and nothing is too much trouble for them to take on."

"The quality of care and commitment from all of the staff is extremely high, and I have seen at first hand how much effort the team put into their daily visits to our client. As a result they are able to encourage Mrs B to take part in a variety of enjoyable and stimulating activities which has greatly enhanced her quality of life. I would have no hesitation in recommending No Place Like Home."

"On first meeting the owner and manager of No Place Like Home, I felt a genuine interest in my mother's needs and indeed my own, which was an added bonus. After having had previous care which seemed somewhat rushed and a bit hit and miss with timing of calls, I now feel confident to leave my mother in someone else's care other than family. Also, keeping the same care assistant is of great importance in lessening anxiety and giving the client a feeling of friendship and security."

"The Personal Assistants from No Place Like Home allow dad to carry on enjoying his lifelong passion of walking and even allowed him to take up snooker as a new interest despite the issues associated with his Alzheimer's dementia. He recently told me they help make his life 'worth living'. They are able to listen to his anxieties thus preventing the previous situation where he rang family at all hours in a state of distress. You are one of the few organisations that understand the needs of both client and client's family and can offer active support."

"I cannot recommend 'No Place Like Home' more highly.  They are perfect for long-term care and for short-term after an accident as in my case when I had problems dressing and showering. My family also benefited from their care as they didn't have to worry about me."

"I have no hesitation in recommending the services of No Place Like Home. The whole team have demonstrated their care and commitment in attending to the needs of our client, always putting her welfare first and going that 'extra mile' to ensure her quality of life is the best it could be."

"No Place Like Home helped me with a plan of care for my sister. Completely recommend them to all; professional, flexible and caring."

"As a 24x7 carer for my husband who has advanced stage vascular dementia, I have found the service that No Place Like Home provides to be a true life line, allowing me to keep my husband in an environment that he is familiar with; the family home. Having someone to help with the little things, an extra pair of hands around the house, someone to provide respite for a trip down the shops, and just someone to talk to is invaluable. I feel that she is not only helping me look after my husband, but also looking after me, and has become more than just "help" but also a friend. Having had experience of having my husband stay in a residential home, I cannot express how much it means to me to have him here at home with me - where I know exactly the level of care he is getting. Without No Place Like Home, this wouldn't be possible."

"I am so glad we found No Place Like Home for our Mum. The carer that looks after our Mum couldn't be nicer and ensures Mum has an enjoyable few hours."

"My mother is recently widowed ; I was recommended to No Place Like home and am very happy with their friendly, caring and professional service . My mum loves her weekly trips out with her “PA”. In life you get what you pay for and it is worth it for her."

“My father looks forward with much anticipation to his outings with his personal assistant, who he looks on as a trusted friend and social companion. He loves the fact that if he suggests doing something, his PA will try to find a way to make it possible (e.g. indoor bowling with a walking stick!).”

“We have had the same companion for the last year and she has become an essential part of our week, she is caring, thoughtful and motivating for her patient who sometimes can be resistant to activities but is always happy when she has been active. We anticipate that No Place Like Home expertise and understanding will be a big part of our future care environment.”

“No Place Like Home provide a fantastic service, giving exceptional care and attention to our client, and providing respect and dignity to the client. Full reports of any visits are always provided, and any queries or problems are always dealt with quickly and effectively.”

“Living on the other side of the world and with my mother having no other relatives it was essential that finding a professional, compassionate and experienced quality Aged Care company to assist my mother with her ever increasing care needs was paramount. Fortunately I found No Place Like Home. To say that the overall quality of the service and care provided is of an exemplary standard could almost be considered an understatement. In my opinion, Alison and her team go far above and beyond the level of attention that might reasonably be expected and it is for this reason that not only can I rest in the comfort of knowing that my mother is being well looked after, but that I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending No Place Like Home to anyone who wants the very best for their aging relatives.”

“All the PAs who help T are kind, competent and able to develop good relationships with T. We really appreciate the consistency in scheduling provided by No Place Like Home, which means T, and the family, get to know a small number of PAs really well. This hugely improves T’s quality of life and keeps him engaged with the world.”

“From the very start when my mother received one visit a week to the present five visits a week, the Personal Assistants from No Place Like Home have continually provided a personable, professional, caring, attentive and patient attitude towards my mother, her husband and indeed myself. Whenever there is an issue, it is dealt with in the same way working with myself as a team to provide the best they can for my mother who suffers from Alzheimer’s. I really don’t know where I would be without them and with the excellent office support from all members of staff, I have total peace of mind that Mum and indeed Dad are in safe hands.”

"I have no hesitation in recommending the services of No Place Like Home. The whole team have demonstrated their care and commitment in attending to the needs of our client, always putting her welfare first and going that 'extra mile' to ensure her quality of life is the best it could be."

“Our father has Alzheimer’s Dementia but thanks to No Place Like Home, the family can relax in the knowledge that dad is spending quality time with people who really care for him and understand his condition. Anyone with a loved one with dementia will know that this is priceless time and so important for the wellbeing of that person. The whole team at No Place Like Home rallied round recently in an emergency situation when dad had a fall and spent many hours in A&E, calming him down and explaining his condition to hospital staff. By involving No Place Like Home Personal Assistants, we are able to have peace of mind that we are doing our best for dad at all times.”

“The service No Place Like Home provides came highly recommended from friends who use your service and we as a family are delighted we found you! It is everything we could want for a loved one in a very professional service which you provide through your Personal Assistants. The weekly outings are a particular highlight for my husband – the change from having only me around is such a bonus for him.”

“We approached No Place Like Home approximately 2 years ago as it became apparent that my mother in her 90s needed extra support so that she may remain in her own home. A friend recommended them to us as they had heard very good reports and we haven’t been disappointed, they have treated my mother with great respect, compassion and dignity. Since having the support from No Place Like Home, I have complete peace of mind when I know it is their day to visit. Personal hygiene was one of my concerns with my mum but they handle this area with sensitivity which is lovely. It has allowed my dear mother to remain at home longer than she would have done and for this we are truly grateful. I would have no hesitation in recommending No Place Like Home.”

“I contacted No Place Like Home in desperation, when no one else was able to help, and to my eternal gratitude they responded with immediate assistance, resolving an urgent short-term problem for me. Following this help, I immediately arranged to have an ongoing booking with No Place Like Home, which has enabled me to continue with other activities with family members, safe in the knowledge that my husband is in safe hands.”

“No Place Like Home provides service that is exceptional in every respect – and should I need their service in the future I would not hesitate to used them. They give service of the highest quality in every respect.”

“I want to record our thanks to No Place Like Home for the support and care given to my father in law, Dick, during the last months of his life. Darren [our PA] was a total star. Not only was he patient and friendly at all times but he was also utterly professional. He would sit with Dick for hours searching out topics of conversation that engaged and stimulated Dick – a task that was increasingly difficult as Dick’s health declined. He did the same with food, cooking and getting Dick to eat a wider variety of food than we ever managed to achieve. In addition, Darren was always willing to find trips out and worked to motivate Dick to go shopping or visit the barbers. This continued even once Dick moved into residential care – with trips to the seaside, an ice cream and even a trip to the Spitfire museum. Darren became an extension of the family – which I know is the aim of No Place Like Home – and we valued his opinion, his efforts and his professionalism. He became as much a support to us as a family – as he was to Dick. So thank you – both to you as an organisation and to Darren as an individual for helping to get us all through a difficult period.”

The support and professionalism provided by No Place Like Home is exceptional. It is such a relief to know that my parents are happy and that staff are always available to provide any support that is required. My thanks to all of you.”

“The support provided has been the thing that has stabilised the situation following a very stressful and unexpected couple of stays in hospital. This has enabled mum to stay in her own home and for me to be relaxed about her doing so. It was a huge thing having people come into my mother’s house, and indeed life, following many years of independent living. The way the Personal Assistants have approached this transition is one of the main reasons I would recommend.”

“When we contacted NPLH in 2013, we were looking for support to help us care for my elderly mum and sometimes her boyfriend too. To enable us to have a break and time to ourselves and also give Mum extra outings or care in her own home. This worked very well, Mum looked forward to her PA outings or visits and we enjoyed our time. Eventually Mum agreed to move in with us, as she more care. Throughout this transition, NPLH continued to support us and when Mum was no longer able to go out, PA’s still visited and helped care for her. Providing us with not only respite but support and advice when we needed it. Sadly, Mum had to go into a nursing home two years ago, again NPLH were there to help. We now rely on visits twice a week from our lovely PA’s. It gives us a break from visiting, and Mum really enjoys their visits. We are every grateful to all at NPLH for all the support, care and kindness given to both Mum and us over the years.”

"My family and I cannot say enough good things about No Place Like Home. We live abroad and they are like family who help take care of first both my parents and now just my mother (in their 90s). My father passed away earlier this year and they did everything to take our place until we could get there and have since been a huge support to us and my mother. During my father's decline they adjusted and were hugely supportive even for us emotionally. My parents have loved all the PAs that visit with them and we do, too. They truly have become friends. No Place Like Home is efficient, responds immediately and takes care of things above and beyond. We never have to worry that they won't address what we need for my mother. We are so very thankful for ALL the staff."

“As always, I continue to be in awe of the professionalism, kindness, empathy, and skills of the amazing care team, who not only support my Dad but have built meaningful relationships with him and vastly changed his quality of life while enabling him to stay in his house. Thank you!!!”

“I cannot comment No Place Like Home highly enough. It is a wonderful organisation with hugely dedicated and well informed and supportive staff. They made coping with my brother’s dementia so much easier and I could not have managed to keep him in his home for so long without them.I am full of admiration for what they do.”

“No Place Like Home supported Mum with genuine companionship during what was to be her final 18months. Mum was in safe loving hands. Her small team of dedicated individuals filled their visit with laughter and happiness. They were regarded as friends. A true testament to NPLH was their willingness to go above and beyond providing extra support when needed. I would recommend Alison and her amazing team to anyone - individuals or family - looking to provide or increase quality of life through companionship. This truly is an exceptional service provided by exceptional people.”

"Mum is in the early stages of Vascular and Alzheimer’s Dementia but none of the family had any practical experience or knew how to help her. Contacting No Place Like Home was the best thing we could have done for her. I attended a workshop run by Alison which gave me a greater understanding of what it was like for mum and gave me invaluable practical advice on how to help her. We have found the Personal Assistants to be extremely caring, helpful and professional and the family would have no hesitation in recommending their services to others."

"A practical and reassuring alternative to full-time care, which enables the continuation of the client's independence."

“No Place Like Home provide a truly exceptional service. They have provided excellent, caring, professional care to my father-in-law. They are attentive to his needs, flexible and innovative in dealing with all issues of his care. They also provide support for my mother-in-law. We would not be without them as they have helped immeasurably  to improve all our lives.”

"I referred a client to No Place Like  Home and found them to be most helpful and accommodating for her. They put themselves out to provide her with the support she needed through quite a difficult period and my client very much enjoyed her companion's company. I would not hesitate to recommend them again."

"I am the full-time carer for my wife who is 86 and is struggling with vascular dementia and osteoporosis. We have now been clients of 'No Place Like Home' for 6 months and are entirely satisfied with the help we are receiving. Nothing is too much trouble for the Personal Assistants who make every effort to stimulate my wife's memory and her powers of concentration. In this short time they have achieved the status of long-term friends of the family."

"Our Personal Assistant has become a friend to us all. Mum looks forward to her visits and has found someone she trusts and can talk to about anything. She enjoys spending time with her and we have peace of mind that Mum is happy and being cared for whilst we are away."

"I have really enjoyed the outings you have given me - it has been so good to get out again in the countryside and see the sea."

"We cannot help but enjoy the visits and service provided and would not hesitate to recommend No Place Like Home to any future clients."

"With the support of my husband I have been caring for my Mum who has Lewy Body Desease, for the last 3 years. Mum loves her own home and wants to stay there as long as possible, even though we would love her to come and live with us. I have never cared for anyone before and at times over the last three years as the illness progresses have found life extremely difficult. We now have the support of No place like home and it has made a tremendous difference. Mum enjoys the time she spends with her personal assistant and it gives me a break too. I also have someone I can talk to about Mum’s wellbeing, which helps me enormously.  I can leave Mum in the care of her personal assistant and know that she is being really well looked after."

"No Place like Home stepped in at very short notice when my mother required assistance following a fall when taking her dog for a walk, which resulted in a broken upper right arm. She had been in a nursing home for some weeks and we were trying to get her back home. She was very reluctant to have carers coming in, but Alison and Rhona quickly won her confidence and she has been very happy with the help their personal assistants have given her. We, my brother, sister and I really appreciate how every effort has been made to work with my mother, helping her with dressing, but also taking her for walks and encouraging her to do more and more for herself, including the exercises she has been given. They have shared our aim of making sure my mother will be able to go to Australia at the beginning of March to visit her granddaughter and one year old great grandson. I think it is fair to say that their support has been invaluable and my mother has really enjoyed the company"

"It's given me a purpose. I look forward to it. My husband has commented to me that I am different to what I was a few months ago and I've started to look forward to having people around again."

“NPLH continues to provide support to my pretty amazing mother who has been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer’s.  Having supported both my mother and myself initially going through the shock and feeling helpless stages of coming to terms with mum’s diagnosis, NPLH have continued our journey through, what feels more like settled times.  It is an acknowledgement of the amazing care, concern, patience and innovative ideas provided that allows me to refer to this stage as settled.  However, I believe I see an improvement in mum’s demeanour and appearance overall, as perhaps mum has come to terms with her situation and has been able to realise that all is not lost, with the assistance of the ladies who have become to feel like supportive friends.  I am able to carry on with my work and life feeling far more relaxed that this care is being provided and knowing they will advise me of any concerns.”

“I cannot recommend this company highly enough. I have now had their help over quite a long period and cannot fault them.”

“Having worked with the staff and Personal Assistants for two years now I have nothing but praise for the way in which they deal with Mrs X and constantly keep me informed on her ongoing needs and progress. Nothing appears to be too much trouble and they never give up trying to keep Mrs X socially active and involved with daily life. The attention to staff training and support is excellent and I think is what sets them apart from other similar organisations. I have no hesitation recommending the services of No Place Like Home. I just wish their model of care could be reproduced in all later life organisations.”

“I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending No Place Like Home as it is a very well run company. Within a couple of visits the stranger that arrived as my mother’s Personal Assistant became more like a friend. It may only have been small things but when someone goes the extra mile for you it has to be appreciated. This company has a very personal touch.”

“We cannot speak highly enough about the care and attention to detail which No Place Like Home provide. We can leave Mum in their care knowing she will be looked after with kindness and respect and she feels safe and happy with any of the Personal Assistants that visit and either take her out to lunch or care for her at home. Mum enjoys the time she spends with her Personal Assistants, and looks forward to lunches out, manicures, or looking at her many photos. Donna has made memory and garden books which they create together, so many thoughtful things have been done for Mum it really makes a difference to her wellbeing. Without the support of No Place Like Home I would find it really difficult to cope with looking after Mum. Not only do they provide professional care and support to Mum, all the Personal Assistants and office staff are very supportive to myself and my husband. We can enjoy time together knowing Mum is in safe hands.”

“We both looked forward to the No Place Like Home Personal Assistant’s visit for different reasons. It allowed me to plan to do essential appointments and arrange to meet friends knowing all was well at home. My husband enjoyed fresh company and particularly talking rugby and playing chess with [our PA] Freddie.”

“Nice people, excellent and caring service, good administration.”

“I am very arthritic and caring for my husband after he had major surgery following months of anxiety, left me wondering how I could continue to cope. I found details of No Place Like Home and spoke to Alison. She explained very clearly what they had to offer. I thankfully asked to have a Personal Assistant. That changed our lives at once. When they said they would do whatever was needed, they meant it. Helping my husband wash and dress. Walking the dog. Washing up, cooking a meal, chatting to my husband so that I could safely leave to do the shopping, carrying the shopping and helping put it away. Even at one point, testing my car tyres and pumping one up. And much more. I cannot praise them enough, nor thank them enough.”

“We have been using No Place Like Home services to help care for our mother since January 2016 and cannot fault them in any way. I cannot start to explain how wonderful it is to know that mum is being cared for so well, especially as we live abroad. No Place Like Home listen to both the needs of the person in care and family and friends, they always show respect, and treat everything with both compassion and the strictest confidence. I would not hesitate in recommending them to anyone.”

“Setting up the support of NPLH has been a massive support for me in helping to keep my Mum and Dad in a happy, supported environment in their own home. I feel like we now have the building blocks to develop their care needs as required rather than being a knee jerk reaction situation when help is urgently required. Mel [our PA] is now comfortably a part of their world and they look forward to her visits which is so lovely. She quite obviously loves her job and her genuine care for my mum and dad is so lovely to see. I was reaching the point where I was not working enough to support myself as I was spending so much time with my mum and dad. Just 2 days knowing they are being visited and supported has been invaluable and changes the dynamics of their day to make their world a happier place. I now have an extra pair of eyes looking out for any potential problems or issues my parents face and the relationship with Mel and with the team as a whole is very relaxed with a level of understanding of their world and my situation, which is so comforting and I am so glad I contacted NPLH when I did.”

“The quality of the service we receive each day is exceptional and so appropriate to our needs. I have recommended No Place Like Home to friends, who have been seeking help with a family member. Until we used your service, I did not know such outstanding care was available.”

“Having help from a companion has made life a lot easier, it is so lovely to think that once a week my mother is enjoying a day out.”

“NPLH have been looking after my parents for over 2 years and during that time I have always felt confident that my parents have been well looked after. The personal assistants have dealt with any new situations that arise with care and consideration.”

“From start to finish NPLH have been brilliant. The PAs are so kind and friendly, my mum was very comfortable in their care.”
