'It must be love, love... everybody tells me so...'

Our Faversham Dementia Awareness & Activity Day on Saturday 21st May 2016 was a well-attended event, largely due to the fact that the Kent Messenger local newspaper had advertised the event in the previous two weeks. It was also the Faversham Transport Weekend so the town centre was very busy.

We had lots of participants at this year’s event: East Kent Independent Dementia Service, Age UK, Kent Libraries, No Place Like Home – Bespoke Later Life Support, Kent Fire & Rescue Service, Dementia Inspired Training, Alzheimer’s Society, Alzheimer’s Research UK, Tassells Solicitors, Sanlam Financial Advisors, Argo Life & Legacy, faversham’s Sociable Sewing Group, NHS partners from Newton Place Surgery (including the local Patient Participation Group representatives), Care UK (who kindly provided free refreshments for the event) and Activities to Share (who set up giant games for visitors to play all day). In addition, we had two speakers – Chris Norris and Melvyn Brooks from Forget Me Not and Rebecca Futrall from Alzheimer’s Research UK – as well as our very own Beatle who provided some super live music to sing along and dance to! Finally, the Tea Trolley Experiment ladies entertained people with activities such as reading tea leaves. Great fun was had by all!

In case you missed the event, Dementia Action Alliance Faversham (known locally as DAAF) are all set to host another Dementia Awareness Day on Friday 23rd September 2016 between 10am – 1pm at West Faversham Community Centre. Do come along!
