Celebrating Dementia Awareness Week 2016
This year, we kick started our Dementia Awareness Week with the Virtual Dementia Tour® which brought its 'bus' to our office. During the day, small groups of our Personal Assitants were given the opportunity to experience 'first hand' what it might feel like to have dementia. The debrief which followed the 'hands-on' session was excellent and has added to our staff's unique blend of formal, practical and experiential learning about dementia.
Created by P.K. Beville, M.S., founder of the international nonprofit Second Wind Dreams®, the Virtual Dementia Tour® (VDT) sensitivity training program is designed to give individuals and organisations a greater understanding of Dementia. Experience Training Ltd and Training 2 CARE (UK) Ltd are the UK Partners for this amazing experience that has now changing the way that people care for people Living with this disease.
