Raising awareness through media volunteering
Both our Managing Director, Alison Carter, and her mother, Leslie Fenn, are media volunteers for Alzheimer's Research UK. To date, they (and other members of the family) have participated in a range of events to raise public awareness about dementia or to develop new resources to help people and their families live well with dementia.
To mark Alzheimer's Research UK's announcement in June of £100m new research funding as a follow up to the G8 Summit on Dementia, the family were approached by Channel 5 and Sky News to tell their story. Channel 5 kindly agreed to provide a copy of their broadcast to enable our staff and clients to view this short film beyond the expiry of the online edition.
Leslie's wonderful care of her husband, John, since his diagnosis of Vascular Dementia in 2007 is what inspired Alison to set up No Place Like Home.
